What is a podcast?

The following is from the Wikipedia article on Podcasts.

A podcast is a digital media file, or a series of such files, that is distributed over the Internet using syndication feeds for playback on portable media players and personal computers. A podcast is a specific type of webcast which, like 'radio', can mean either the content itself or the method by which it is syndicated; the latter is also termed podcasting. The host or author of a podcast is often called a podcaster. The term "podcast" is a portmanteau of the name of Apple's portable music player, the iPod, and broadcast[1]; a "pod" refers to a container of some sort, and "cast" to the idea of broadcasting.

Amateur Radio Podcasts

This Week In Amateur Radio (TWIAR): This Week in Amateur Radio and TWIAR International are available via Podcast. In order to utilize podcasting, you need a computer with an internet connection (broadband recommended), an MP3 player, and an RSS feed aggregator that can check for new podcasts and download them onto your computer or MP3 player.

Amateur Radio Newsline:Amateur Radio Newsline™ proiduces a weekly newscast of interest to radio amateurs worldwide. The bulletins conform to all sections and codes as outlined under the United States FCC Part 97 Amateur Radio Service rules regarding the legal means of amateur radio operators issuing "QST’s" or "Bulletins of Interest to All Amateurs." We differ only in format and follow a more traditional radio "spot news" format. Whenever possible,

Wireless Tech Radio:Join Wireless Tech Radio and guests from throughout the wireless world to learn about wireless equipment, technologies, providers, manufacturers, markets, as well as the 'best practices' of operators, and organizations in the industry.

Solder Smoke:Not technically a HAM podcast but very interesting cast about home brewing

Amateur Logic TV: I haven't had a chance to view this one (it is a video podcast) but it sounds interesting

There are many podcasts available on the net. Currently these are the ones I (VE6CPU) subscribe to. If you have a favourite please let me know and I'll add it to the list. Especially if its a Canadian!
