Update July 1/2008 Well another Field Day has come and gone. I happy to report that over all it was a great success. We had about 20 people come out and help. We got to North Glenmore park at 7:30 Saturday morning and started setting up the gazebos at 8:00 am. This was our biggest challenge as we had never taken them out of the box (yes we should have done a trial run!). It took us about 2 hours to get them up which is what we had expected and left us lots of time to get our main antenna in the air. We started putting our pop-up tower up around 10:00 am. By noon it was up and the antenna was in the air. Shortly there after we made our first contact. We then put the tower trailer in the air and put the Canada flag on the top. Global TV was there for the flag raising and took some shots of the tower trailer and our main contesting station. We are hoping to get the footage. We then moved on to putting up a small tower (24 feet) that held Dave (VE6DKC) multi-band vertical. By 2:00 pm we had three antenna's in the air and three stations operating. I don't have to remind the people who put up the antennas that it was over 30 degrees by then. We operated the three stations pretty much constantly until about midnight when we dropped down to just the main station. By 3 am only Dave and my self (Stephen VE6CPU) where left on site. We tried to keep the station going but by 5 am just had to get some sleep. By 7am we where back on the air when people started arriving and all three stations were again in full swing. We started our tear down at about 11 am as most of us where absolutely beat. By 1:30 Sunday afternoon were had all the antenna's down. The gazebo's packed up. The radios put away and the site cleaned up. It was time for a long shower and a long nap. Thanks to everyone for all their help. There are to many to list buy you know who you are. I've put up a page with some pictures and will have more in the coming days and will sort them all out. You can check it out here. Thanks again and see you next year. It should prove to be better then ever. Stephen Atkins (VE6CPU) -- Check this section for all of our Field Day planning. Here will be lists of things needed. Maps to event locations.
