Welcome to the Calgary Amateur Radio Association (CARA) web resource. We have organized this site to provide basic information on Club activities. Amateur radio covers a wide variety of interests. Our organization has been structured into Sections to provide each major group a chance to propose, pursue, and complete projects for the benefits of local amateurs. The Section meetings are an excellent place to meet members who are interested in the same general topics. The DX section handles DX and radio contesting. The VHF group covers VHF/UHF repeaters and ATV functions. The Digital Section organizes digital communication topics such as packet, APRS, and Digital voice radio. The Section meetings are held at Devry Technical College on Monday evenings. The overall club meeting is held on the 4th Monday of each month at a centrally located facility called the Golden Age Club. You can find our informal coffee meeting on Saturday mornings at the Chinook Mall food court. Pick the meeting of your choice and visit. CARA assists a wide variety of local community organizations. If you can help us with community service events please contact any member of the executive. If you are interested in becoming an amateur radio operator you can attend one of our regular training classes. Talk to any Section Chairperson for additional information. Once again welcome to our site. Explore and have fun. Stephen Atkins VE6CPU CARA Vice President
